Without Boundaries by C.J. Azevedo Blog Tour hosted by Mary Elizabeth's Crazy Book Obsession

Blurb

Bailey Hayes moved across the country ten years ago after a tragic accident left her motherless. Distraught, confused and just sad, Bailey opted to leave the only life she has ever known to attend college at NYU. Determined to not experience the loss of a loved one again, Bailey keeps her one friend that she made as a freshmen in college. And that’s it. She dated during her college years but she never let anything really stick. Not trusting herself enough to give her heart and not get hurt she was satisfied with the life she led. That is until she met the handsome, confident and successful Hollister Harrison.
Bailey was swept off her feet instantly with his charm and charisma. Six short months of dating, she finds herself moving in with him. The minute she had her bags unpacked, the fun loving romantic she fell hard for was starting to dwindle away as he became unnecessarily possessive and borderline abusive. Bailey insists on making her relationship work in fear of repeating her past and making a haste decision by leaving too soon. On a weekend when Hollister is out of town, she meets a guy. A beautiful charming guy whom she feels an obvious attraction for, but also a unique connection with. The beautiful charming guy is none other than her running partner’s brother. Bailey finds herself in an oddly nice predicament.
The beautiful charming guy is none other than her running partner’s brother. Talon McAllister has chosen to dedicate himself to his family’s business his entire adult life. He adores his parents and his sister and hockey. Not leaving much time for anything else he has been single for years. Meeting Bailey Hayes changed his outlook. He wants her. He will do whatever he has to do to get her on the same page.
Finding out she lives with her boyfriend deters him from his mission of getting her to be his. But when she calls and asks to tag along on his vacation with his sister, he can’t help but get excited. When he picks her up and sees her bruised and battered face he figures “game over” he is going to show her how she deserves to be treated. By the end of their first day together alone, Bailey propositions Talon with a brief relationship without boundaries and no lines to cross. He’s in… all in.
Will this brief encounter without boundaries relinquish her twisted sense of loyalty to Hollister or will she walk away from her greatest love for fear of repeating her past?

Character Casting and Review

This is a beautiful love story, I was swept away by the charming Talon McAllister :) This character makes you fall head over heels in love with him. CJ has written a perfect book husband..yes I said husband.  From the moment we are introduced to him I knew he was going to be great. He's sweet, charming, sexy, and a hockey player.....so that means he's built!!

We are introduced to Bailey Hayes and I'm immediately drawn to her. She has such a strong beautiful spirit. She is currently living with her boyfriend Hollister, who happens to be a very angry person. Of course he was sweet and charming in the beginning but as soon as Bailey moves in with him he changes. So when she meets Talon for the first time she is immediately drawn to him, but she holds herself back because of her relationship with Hollister.

Hollister, his character made me what to throw my iPad across the room! The only good thing about him was his good looks. He is abusive to Bailey, but Bailey refuses to leave him because of her loyalty to him. And the sad part is, this is how most women react to situations like this, they stay hoping the person they fell in love with reappears.

This love story is beautifully written, and I enjoyed it imensely. If you are looking for a sweet romance with a little angst thrown in this is the book for you. I give a solid 4 stars, and I am looking forward to reading more by this author.

Arsen by Mia Asher

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

More than 5 Incredible & Intense stars!!!

   photo 1a801c1b-f476-4e55-af2c-67cc724daba6_zps5e9d1c4b.jpg

Arsen is full of angst, love, sex, passion, devastation, heartbreak. I am a little speechless right now. Trying to convey my feelings for this book is proving to be difficult. This was an amazing read. It was just brilliant. Cathy’s story is controversial. It is hard to read at times.. This one really threw me for a loop. It left me with a major case of the feels.

Let me introduce you to Cathy. This is her story...
   photo f036c5af-5bfc-4206-8525-4e861bbd5558_zps0745cd9e.jpg

I'm a cheater.
I'm a liar.
My whole life is a mess.

I love a man.
No, I love two men…
I think.

One makes love to me. The other sets me on fire.
One is my rock. The other is my kryptonite.

I'm broken, lost, and disgusted with myself.

But I can't stop. This is my story.
My broken love story.

Cathy narrates most of this broken love story. We get a back and forth, into the past and present. Cathy has a life most people would envy. She is married to the perfect man who loves and adores her. She has a good job. She should be happy. She should feel fulfilled. But she isn’t. She doesn’t. She feels incomplete. Defective. Reality has not been kind to Cathy. The one thing she has always wanted in life, to become a mother, is out of her reach. It’s tearing her apart from the inside out. It’s making her resent Ben and his perfection. It’s changing her, changing everything.

Cruel reality has a way of always catching up to you, no matter how fast of how far you run; reality has a way to destroy ones hopes and dreams.

Cathy. I’m not sure if I was supposed to hate her or love her or both... but I actually loved her. She was such a real and relatable character. There are going to be some people who don’t like her at all, and that’s okay. Of course I didn’t love or agree with all of her actions, but I understood them. Understood her. Cathy’s story is real. It is raw. I appreciated that. And I loved being in Cathy’s head.

Cathy and Ben met when she was eighteen, just a college freshman. They were so in love. Ben is the best kind of man. He is funny, charming, handsome, sexy, attentive and he truly only sees Cathy. Most woman would die to have a man like him. It is impossible not to love Ben.

   photo 86f9b18d-5b44-45e5-9880-5ab83030f9fe_zps82c4b6c3.jpg

They have the ‘perfect’ marriage. They both love each other, they always have. But is love enough?

I felt like I could conquer the world with his love.
I felt invincible.
If only I had known that it takes a lot more than love to make a marriage work, then maybe our story would be different.
If only.

Ben does everything he can to try to help Cathy, to understand her. It broke my heart reading some things from Ben’s perspective. Cathy wants to be the perfect wife, but it’s hard. She feels like everything is falling around her. She can’t break free of her life. She doesn’t know what she wants, but she can’t keep living her life like this.

Sometimes I feel like the normalcy of our lives will drive me insane.

One night, things change. She meets someone who changes her. His name is Arsen. Arsen is at a business meeting with Cathy and he is immediately attracted to her. Being a young, rich, devastatingly sexy playboy, Arsen is used to getting exactly what he wants. And he wants her. She can’t deny the attraction she feels to him, but she is a married woman. She can’t go there. Cathy is not a bad person. She is not out to hurt anyone. She will resist temptation, she has no choice. But there is something about Arsen, something that gets to her.

His smile is electrifying.
His smile frightens me.
His smile hypnotizes me.

   photo 87fbdc79-7732-40e0-8d9a-0a7a7533e0e8_zpse0d6b327.jpg

Arsen and Cathy have some crazy sexual tension. They flirt, hang out at work, and become really close friends. Arsen is someone who will listen to Cathy without judging. He won’t just tell her ‘everything is going to be okay’. She needs that in her life. She needs him in her life.

‘If you ever feel like you need to talk to someone... if you ever feel like fear is making it hard for you to breathe... talk to me. I’m here for you, Dimples. I’m here.’

It was so hard not to fall for Arsen. I was so conflicted with myself. Arsen was far from perfect, but you could tell what he felt for Cathy was real.  The more time Cathy and Arsen spend together, the more temptation calls to them. Arsen does something for Cathy. He lets her feel what she feels, be herself. Something she so desperately needs.

With Arsen, I can finally grieve and not pretend everything is alright. With Arsen, I can let my emotions take over me and not be ashamed. With Arsen, I can be me.

Oh what a tangled web we weave...

Sometimes not being in control, not being able to think, just losing yourself in the moment is the greatest feeling in the world. It’s liberating. It’s addicting. It’s the most powerful high  you’ll ever get.

Can you love two people at the same time? How can you live with yourself knowing that you are destroying someone you love? When you are broken, drowning in your life, does it really matter? How do you cope knowing everyone you care about is being torn apart by your actions?

I have to make a choice once again.
And it doesn’t matter what choice I make. Which path I choose to follow. Either way, I will break my own heart. I will lose a part of myself.
But I think I already have.
I love two men.
And this time, the monster that I am, the one I’ve become, will bring someone else down with me. It’s the darkness in me, I tell you…It follows me everywhere I go, spreading like spilled black ink on white paper.

   photo c0bf12d1-c24d-4f1d-b1b7-6380dae8baee_zpse93c810c.jpg

Love has the power to destroy you.

Are some things too broken to ever be repaired?

I will say it... I don’t have a team. I feel like it is impossible to choose. Ben and Arsen both worked their way into my heart. I really feel that I would have felt the same no matter what happened. If I had to pick, I pick Cathy. I may be the only Team Cathy out there, but I wanted her to find happiness, completion, something to fill that void inside of her in a healthy way.

It hurt to read parts of this story. The author has a way of making you care about and love these characters, flaws and all. Just knowing that its going to end badly for one or maybe all of them made me miserable. The ending was bittersweet. When it was over, I just sat there for a while thinking... part of me was elated. I was so happy- but a big part of me was devastated. I finished it last night, and I’m still not sure how I feel. This is a nail biter. One that makes you feel like you have an anvil sitting on your chest. I felt like I couldn’t breathe when reading part of this... but I love when any book can affect me like that. It was intense and unpredictable. It was a story about a broken woman trying to find some sort of way to survive. An honest and real story about love, lust, temptation. It’s a story that broke my heart, made me feel so strongly, and just touched me.

Quick disclaimer- there is cheating. I know you can tell from the blurb, but it’s there. Mass amounts of cheating. I know reading about cheating bothers a lot of you, it does me too- depending on the situation... as much as I would LOVE to recommend this book to everyone, it’s not gonna work for some because of that. Just a heads up!

To the author, Mia Asher... thank you for sharing this difficult but incredible story with us.  I’m sure it wasn’t easy to write a book like this, but it was amazing! This story exceeded all of my expectations. I’m pretty sure this is a standalone, but I know I would LOVE a book 2 about you know who... but then again, maybe not. Maybe the story ended the way it was supposed to for everyone involved.

To be released 8-23-13

MORE THAN THIS... A 5 star must read kind of book!

More Than This (More #1)More Than This by Jay McLean
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5- I more than a lot liked this book- stars!!!

   photo b40e4fd5-21f0-4b53-9148-dac9ec388ff0_zpsf65fc7e6.jpg

This book hooked me from the start and I couldn’t put it down. Loved every single page! I’m going to throw this out at the very beginning of my review- this one is going straight to the favorites shelf!

In one night my fairytale ended... or it may have begun.
It’s just one day. 24 hours. But for Mikayla, that one day alters her entire life. Kayla’s life was pretty great. She had fun and awesome parents, a sweet little sister, a best friend- Megan, and her boyfriend of 4 years, James. In one night, she loses them all in some way. In that night, she also finds the other half of her heart.

Kayla meets Jake, the circumstances are less than ideal, but in some way or another, they just connect. She would never know this random guy she meets on the night of her prom will change her life, save her life. Jake doesn’t know what it is about Mikayla, but from the moment he lays eyes on her, he knows. Something is different about this girl. He can’t let her walk away.

After a traumatic event, Kayla finds herself leaning on Jake, relying on Jake, this boy she has known less than 24 hours makes her feel safe, cared for, he lessens the pain.

   photo 82432699-52a6-485a-b2da-80c770f0012e_zps4d65867c.jpg

Their bond, their friendship, it’s just amazing. JAKE is just amazing. I’m talking Josh Bennett, Andrew Parrish type amazing. The best kind. I’m a little obsessed with this guy. As time goes on, Jake and his family and friends are exactly what Kayla needs to heal and try to get on with her life. She and Jake have some serious feelings for each other, even if they don’t admit them out loud. Jake gives Kayla the strength she needs to go on.

I think I’m in love with this beautifully broken girl.

   photo 34207d56-6120-43ea-a22e-7f9cf82f7ebc_zps536bcf6a.jpg

I so much more than a lot like you.

I loved the friendship these two developed. The intimate moments they shared. The build up and sexual tension was off the charts.

   photo 6574a39e-a326-4d9a-ab5d-be8033371ec3_zps06caf12b.jpg

Waiting for these two to reveal how they truly felt for one another was brutal at times... even though they weren’t official, I loved that they still belonged to each other.

   photo 16506ee6-6756-4a9b-8ea3-af6b5f74ab46_zpsae04032a.jpg

All Jake ever wanted was to be there for Kayla, to take care of her, love her. But he wants all of her, not just parts, so he waits until she is ready to give him all of it.

It’s the fucking hardest thing to do, to be around the person you love, with everything you have, and not be able to love them.

Kayla knows how she feels about Jake. She has never doubted those feelings. Others can see it too...

The way she looks at you- like you’re the only one. You’re it, Jake. You’re all of it. Her forever.

   photo 8068db57-383c-4f12-b8e5-b36810a276ad_zps42fd3fdb.jpg

‘It’s just you. It’s only ever been just you. It will always only ever be just you.’

It’s just getting to the point in her life when Kayla feels complete enough to be with Jake wholly that is difficult. But sometimes, you have to move on. Let go. Embrace your life.

I will not let bad people dictate what should be a good life.

Some of my FAVORITE things/quotes:

   photo 6aff0df5-7417-49d5-95ff-8baba46255e9_zps22983bd4.jpg

‘Why does he get to call you Kayla, and everyone else calls you Mickey?’ I shrug. ‘Because my family called me Kayla.’

Do not settle for anything less that the Jake Andrews of the world. Because they exist, and not just in fairytales.

Once he’s inside me, I work it out, why I never felt like this before. Because if I compare my feelings for Jake to anyone else, then I know. I know I’ve never loved anyone before. Not even a little bit. Not even at all.

I love him, so much more than a lot.

This book was just all kinds of awesome. It will put you through the ringer emotionally. The best part was, even through all the tears and devastating, emotional moments, there were a lot of smiles, a lot of swooning, and  a lot of laughter. Isn’t that the best kind of book? That can make you feel, make you cry, but also makes you happy. It is for me. I loved the dual pov- inside of Jakes head... YES! I know I touched on this a little bit before, but Jake Andrews... Jake was everything you could ever want in a man. Seriously the best. Without him, I don’t even know how Kayla’s story would have turned out. He is just incredible! There were also some pretty wonderful secondary characters: Lucy and Logan were my favorite. I swear Lucy could be my twin- lol ;) And Logan... I am so happy he is getting his own book. But the ending sentence or two... what was that? I need more of this guy!

Heartbreaking, heartwarming, beautiful and emotional story about love, friendship, moving on and letting go. Don’t pass this one up. I can’t even tell you why I loved it so much- it just gave me that ‘feeling’, you know, the one you get after you read a book you can’t get out of your head- I just was so happy after reading, you couldn’t get that smile off of my face! Highly recommend this one!!! ♥

Book Description:

*Mikayla*
In one night my fairytale ended. Or it may have begun. This is my story of friendship and love, heartbreak and desire, and the strength to show weakness.

*Jake*
One night I met a girl. A sad and broken girl, but one more beautiful than any other. She laughed through her sadness, while I loved through her heartbreak.

*This is our story of a maybe ever after.*

He was right. It made no difference whether it was 6 months or 6 years.
I couldn’t undo what had been done. I couldn’t change the future.
I couldn’t even predict it.
It was one night.
One night when everything changed.
It was so much more than just the betrayal.
It was the Tragedy.
The Deaths.
The Murders.
But it was also that feeling.
The feeling of falling.

Christy's review of Stripped by Jasinda Wilder

StrippedStripped by Jasinda Wilder
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4 stars!!!!

   photo 45288ea4-1d2d-4d68-a6d4-a60025c8c288_zps92c80766.jpg

Grey Amundsen grew up living a very sheltered life as a pastor’s daughter. Grey’s father is very strict. He wants Grey to have nothing to do with anything he deems to be sinful or ungodly... and that’s about everything. Thankfully, Grey has her mother on her side. Grey’s mom used to dance and talks her father into letting Grey dance. Dancing is a release to Grey. As she gets older and starts to become her own person, she finds she also has a passion for film. Things take a dramatic turn in Grey’s life. She has to go to the college she wants to, follow her own dreams no matter what that means for her life and her relationship with her father.

Grey is in California going to film school. She keeps to herself mostly, works hard to get good grades. She wants to excel. After a few semesters at school, she finds herself in a bit of a bind. Something is wrong with her financial aide at school and she doesn’t have much money left. She has to get a job and pay her own way. She can’t go back to Georgia. She won’t. She will do whatever she has to do. No one is hiring. No job, no money, no school. Whats a girl to do? Well... there is one job hiring. Grey Amundsen, 20 year old virgin applying for a job to be a stripper???

   photo 06ae2650-d077-42eb-b898-314dfbf8364d_zpsa375b3a9.jpg

Although stripping is the very last thing Grey ever wanted to do, it brings in the money she needs to continue with school and thats all that matters. It makes Grey ill doing it, but she knows it is only temporary. She is almost to graduation, she has a good internship lined up, things are on the right track for her, even if she is playing the role of Gracie at the local strip club.

   photo 5e4e7038-f360-4271-9125-1feb587c87d1_zps52e9984d.jpg

The night before her internship, Grey is at work. She has a private party. There are only a few guys there. She recognizes the first few as actors, then she sees him. A big name film star, Dawson Kellor.

Dawson Kellor. My heart stops, my breath catches. I’ve seen pictures of him, I’ve seen him in his latest films. But none of that does him justice. Not even close.

Dawson appears to be a rich, spoiled, rich actor, but he sees something in Grey. When he first lays eyes on her, he knows she is different. There is something about her. The next day, Grey starts her internship and her two worlds collide.

Dawson has it bad for Grey. He is enamored with her. Grey has no idea what someone like Dawson Kellor would see in her. She is a plain jane from Georgia who strips for tuition. He could have anyone. On top of all that, she is inexperienced and she knows he is not. Dawson is a man used to getting what he wants, and he wants Grey.

“Girlfriends are a dime a dozen. I could snap my fingers and have six girlfriends, one for every day of the week and Sunday off. I don’t want that. I’ve had that. It’s boring. I want you.”

Eventually, after Grey continually pushing Dawson away, she starts to let down some of her walls and let Dawson in. All he wants is to help her, he cares about her, wants her. Desires her.

I know I shouldn’t let this happen, that I’m crossing some line I shouldn’t cross, but I won’t stop it. He’s touching me; he owns me. He knows exactly what I need, what I want, even if I don’t.

Dawson and Grey together... it was HOT.

   photo 6a05d0d7-c973-4b4a-a762-afbb6b7c4d9d_zps86664672.jpg

Not only do these two have a connection, and a lot of heat between them, there is more than that. Even though they are very different people from different backgrounds, they get each other.

‘You make me feel like I’m sone one, and not because I’m Dawson Fucking Kellor, either.’

‘You make me feel alive, Grey. And... I love that feeling.’

Grey gives Dawson what he has always needed. Someone to keep him grounded, someone who actually makes him feel something for the first time in his life. Dawson was all kinds of cocky, protective, possessive, sexy, sweet and amazing. Loved this guy. He was good for Grey- she was able to be herself with him. Not the person her father wanted her to be, not the good quiet student who worked too hard to enjoy anything in life. Grey drove me a little mad at times, but she grew on me by the end of the book. I especially loved the two of them together.

   photo 139dcd3f-f071-4d77-9ce5-2319620a2e46_zps1653a3c7.jpg

A story about a young girls journey to leave her sheltered past and become her own person. I wouldn’t call this a light read, although I had a few laughs, but it wasn’t exactly heavy, I did shed a few tears. It was that good in between. Stripped wasn’t exactly what I was expecting... it’s not a bad thing, it was just a much different read than Wounded, Falling Into You, or Falling Into Us. If you are expecting the same type of story, the same type of feelings, you will be let down. But don’t let that stop you from reading. The writing is still incredible, the story was original, I enjoyed the characters, it was overall a very good read. For some reason, it just didn’t hit that 5 star mark for me like I was hoping, but I still enjoyed it and would recommend for anyone looking for a fun, sizzling hot stand alone read. (Yes, you read that right... STAND ALONE :D)
