This is one of those books I was equal parts excited and terrified to read. It could go so many ways... I liked the direction it ended up taking. I couldn’t wait to read Tripp’s story. I’ve been intrigued by him for a while now. But I wasn’t that excited to read about Bethy. I’ve had mixed feelings about her. But Abbi made me love her. I love a good second chance love story and this was just that.

Leaving her changed me. The moment I climbed onto my bike and drove out of Rosemary Beach, Florida, I left true joy behind.

Tripp has never been the same since he left home when he was 18, and left Bethy, his girl behind. He always planned to go back for her, then everything happened, and he couldn’t. Now even more has happened. Bethy has been through so much. And Tripp can do nothing to help her with her heartache. Noting but be there for the only way he can be.

“I follow her and watch her every day. Because she’s alone. And I have to know she’s safe. It’s the only thing that keeps me going.”

This follows both Bethy and Tripp in the past and the present. Although I liked reading about the present and their current relationship/healing, I really loved getting looks into the past. Seeing the girl Bethy used to be. And the way Tripp was with her. Even though they came from different sides of the tracks, their relationship was so good, so sweet, so easy. Tripp wants that again. And deep down Bethy does too. But too much has happened. Too much has changed. Bethy has lost too much, and she can’t handle another loss.

Tripp makes it his mission to convince her that it won’t happen. That he won’t hurt her. As many places as Tripp has been, he’s never met anyone like Bethy. She may have had another love in her life for a while, but he never has. It’s always been her for him. No one else.

It’s a game of push and pull. As soon as Bethy gives a little, she can’t handle it and retreats. Normally, this would bother me in a book. The heroine being this way. With knowing their past and their current situation, it didn’t . My heart hurt for the both of them. Taking a chance on Tripp again is dangerous for Bethy’s heart and I understand her trying to protect that. She feels so much guilt, loss and hurt, she has to guard herself. She doesn’t know if Tripp is a risk she can take.

Tripp. I fell hard for him. His devotion, his love, his patience, and his dirty mouth. Hot damn is that boy sexy! He is a new favorite of mine from the Rosemary Beach series. I love that he has this one great love of his life. He made a mistake years ago, and is doing everything in his power to fix it, to make things right. All he wants is Bethy, and I love that. I love that he’s willing to do anything to get his girl back. He wants all of her.

“With you, I want it all. If I get a taste of what it could be, I won’t ever want to let go. I fell in love with you when I was sixteen, and that’s never changed. But trusting you with my heart again is different. With you, I need to know it’s forever."

Bethy and Tripp's relationship isn't easy now. But overcoming ugly pasts and tragedy is never easy.

I can’t even speak about Jace, so I won’t really go there. Just know that there were tears, so many tears for Jace. It still breaks my heart just thinking of it.

Honestly, I didn’t expect to love this installment so much. I was afraid it would be too sad and just too much. But it was balanced and it worked. I love Abbi’s writing and I’m so happy that she gave Bethy and Tripp their story, and that she gave it in just one book. No cliffhanger. Tripp and Bethy’s story is one of first loves, of second chances, pain, heartache, healing and hope. Tripp won me over. Their journey was a difficult one, but a beautiful one.

It was wonderful to get all of our other favorite characters in this story, and even nicer that a certain character I loathe wasn’t in this! I can’t stop reading about this group of people, and I love that Mase’s book is next! I can’t wait!

“You need to know that what we had was forever. Bethy, it was forever with me when I was eighteen years old. You were all I could see then, and you’re all I can see now.”

Kara's Review:

Abbi Glines is GREAT at what she does.  and she does Rosemary Beach phenomenally.
Tripp - we have all wondered about him... THIS book - THIS book we see him. You will be in love with this read as much as the Book Babes Unite did.
"I'd only had that summer with her, three months that altered me forever" swoon... god I love Tripp.

YOU WERE MINE
by Abbi Glines

Gossip is the ultimate currency in Rosemary Beach, but Bethy and Tripp have managed to keep one big secret to themselves.

Eight years ago, Tripp Newark was dating a rich girl he didn’t like and was on his way to Yale—and a future he didn’t want. The only way he could escape his predictable life would be to give up the money and power that came with his family’s name. And that’s exactly what he planned to do. At the end of the summer, he was going to ride off on his Harley and never look back.

That was before he met Beth Lowry.

It was only supposed to be a summer fling. She was a sixteen-year-old trailer-park girl who served drinks to his friends at Kerrington Country Club. They didn’t run in the same social circles. No one even knew they were friends, let alone lovers. Yet, for one summer, Bethy became his entire world.

But he couldn’t give up on his plan. He needed to leave Rosemary Beach, but he vowed he would come back for her.

Problem was, by the time he came back—years later than promised—it was too late. His cousin, Jace, had already claimed the woman he loved. . . .
