5 stars for Take Me With You!

Synopsis

Grant
All of my demons are coming to head.
I thought Ari could push them back.
I thought I could conquer my vices with her at my side.

I thought wrong.

Aribel
Fear is my new constant.
I thought I could conceal it, contain it, control it.
I thought that now that I had Grant the worst was over.

I thought wrong.

But if we’re going to survive, wherever you go…take me with you.

I was so happy to revisit my favorite rockstar and (reformed) manwhore, Grant McDermott. And his woman, an amazing heroine who is strong and feisty, Aribel. I love this couple. I love how different they are, how many obstacles they have to overcome, but how they just work together. I love that they both love and accept each other for who they are.

   photo 056a9efa-5bbd-4d48-8b25-579a38021898_zps755b6e4f.jpg

There were different hurdles they had to get through in this book. Ari’s family. Grant’s label. Grant’s dad. But thats life. With the good comes the bad. But they have each other through it all.

   photo 5e5d8fc1-9e74-4277-9bd7-15db530257ac_zpsc73c2fcd.jpg

The first half was a bit angsty, but it’s a K.A. Linde book. It just wouldn’t be right if there was no angst.  The angst that is there is real. It’s something that you would expect in a relationship of people their age in their situations. And I love that no matter what, the characters stayed true to themselves.

   photo 0b83f1f6-b8a5-4a95-b28a-aef218b74f7b_zps2db31c75.jpg

Grant may be a devoted boyfriend, but he’s still himself… and he’s not immune to the fact that he’s a musician. There are women around and easily available, he just knows he can’t act on it. And Ari is still that smart woman who doesn’t take crap. Especially Grant’s. But no matter what they go through, Ari is there for Grant. She is what grounds him. She is what keeps him together.

   photo b8f69d09-1fc1-4e8d-9efa-a40b92e06202_zps1ef95000.jpg

There are many things I love about this sequel- can I just say one thing… PHONE SEX. Okay. That is a highlight of the book for me ;) These two are just crazy hot together. And Grant is the perfect combination of sexy dirty talker and swoony man!

   photo d9bc7372-2442-4678-947d-88a9c9cb8f03_zps1d488217.jpg

But in all seriousness, I adore these characters. I’ve loved watching their relationship grow and I appreciate the fact that the author stayed true to them and their story and added in the perfect amount of angst without any crazy and unnecessary drama. Take Me with You gets a full 5 stars from me!

NOWHERE BUT HERE Synopsis:

An unforgettable new series from acclaimed author Katie McGarry about taking risks, opening your heart and ending up in a place you never imagined possible

Seventeen-year-old Emily likes her life the way it is: doting parents, good friends, good school in a safe neighborhood. Sure, she's curious about her biological father—the one who chose life in a motorcycle club, the Reign of Terror, over being a parent—but that doesn't mean she wants to be a part of his world. But when a reluctant visit turns to an extended summer vacation among relatives she never knew she had, one thing becomes clear: nothing is what it seems. Not the club, not her secret-keeping father and not Oz, a guy with suck-me-in blue eyes who can help her understand them both.

Oz wants one thing: to join the Reign of Terror. They're the good guys. They protect people. They're…family. And while Emily—the gorgeous and sheltered daughter of the club's most respected member—is in town, he's gonna prove it to her. So when her father asks him to keep her safe from a rival club with a score to settle, Oz knows it's his shot at his dream. What he doesn't count on is that Emily just might turn that dream upside down.

No one wants them to be together. But sometimes the right person is the one you least expect, and the road you fear the most is the one that leads you home.

A Second Chance at Paris by Cole McCade

One week in Paris. One chance with her childhood crush. And one lie that could ruin it all.

Before she was Dr. Celeste London, Astrophysicist, she was Mary Celeste Haverford: dork, loser, the geek formerly known as Hairy Mary. But she’d left all that behind--and left Ion Blackwell behind, nothing but an unrequited crush and the memory of a high school field trip, a night in Paris, and the words Celeste never had the courage to say. She’d never expected to see him again…until a surprise encounter on a Parisian riverboat tour brings him back into her life, and gives her the opportunity to start over as someone new. Someone Ion doesn’t recognize, transformed from a social outcast into a polished, professional woman that Ion doesn’t realize is the girl he’s been longing for since childhood, the ideal he’s dreamed of his entire life.

Suddenly this vivacious (if charmingly awkward) “new” woman is teaching him that real love is better than any dream--but Celeste is hiding more than her identity. Hiding something that makes it hard to trust her increasingly erratic behavior, and her frequent secretive phone calls. When the truth comes out, the deception could shatter them both...unless they can give each other a second chance, and take a risk on love.

4 stars for Three Brother's by Nicole Williams

“We don’t get to choose how we die, but we get to choose how we live.”

One thing I can say about Three Brothers is that it is not your average NA/romance book. It’s got a unique story line. I haven’t read anything quite like it. And I love finding that in a book. Finding that story that makes me emotional, makes me feel, AND is not your run of the mill story. That is something special and it doesn’t happen nearly enough! This is not just a romance. It’s a story of coming home, a story of finding yourself, letting go, forgiving and moving forward.

Scout just finished Veterinarian school. After being gone seven years, she’s coming home. Home to a place where four different, but equally important men are. One is like a father to her. One is like her big brother. One has always been her very best friend. And the other, well, it’s complicated.

   photo 5f319bd3-d8d6-4476-b59e-212fcce835aa_zps752a0c5b.jpg

It’s not been accidental that she’s been gone that long, someone has kept her away. But no more. She’s not letting what happened in the past control her future. She will deal with these Armstrong boys and then decide where her life will go, but no more running.

I really liked Scout a lot. I didn’t love that she left her best friend for so long, but I understood why she felt the need to do that. One of my biggest issues with this story and probably the main reason it wasn’t a five star read for me, is that I wanted more of Scout’s past. I wanted to know what led up to her coming to stay with the Armstrong boys when she was 13? It’s mentioned quickly towards the middle/end, but I wanted more.

I thought the relationship she had with all 3 boys was well done. Chase. She was able to help Chase heal and grow after suffering such loss. I loved Wolf. Conn. As tumultuous as their relationship was, in the end, she was able to give him the peace and forgiveness he needed. And then there is Chance. She was able to give Chance back his best friend.

So the question I know you’re all wondering is which Armstrong brother has her heart? Well… I guess you’ll have to read and find out!

   photo edeefb3f-7e90-471d-8eb4-8b6bc1726e39_zps0129d118.jpg

This is not a light and easy read. The entire book is centered around a death getting ready to take place, and a curse that is keeping the Scout and her love interest apart.  It’s been proven time and time again that the Armstrong men are cursed. All of their wives have met untimely deaths.

“Would you let yourself love someone if you were convinced it would be your love that would kill them?”

It was  an interesting spin. Just when things with the ‘curse’ started to fade a little, we were hit with a HUGE twist. One I didn’t see coming and induced a mini-panic attack. So readers, be prepared to be thrown for a loop!

Three Brothers is an emotional, beautiful and original story. It’s got a swoony hero, a lovely romance, and a lot of heart wrenching moments. I loved going on the journey that these characters took us. And most of all, I loved that they took a chance on love. That they would rather risk being together than not. That they decided to live every day to the fullest with one another, then living potentially safe lives apart. If you’re looking for a different type of love story, I would recommend this!

Get Off On The Pain by Victoria Ashley blog tour

BLURB:

I live for the pain; it’s what drives me to keep moving. But there comes a time when one has to push the demons aside in order to survive.

I thought I buried them deep. I thought I was ready to finally live. Until… my brother, Alex; he throws me into the fire—right into the place I could never control myself, the one place I never want to be again.

When I put my hands on people, they get hurt. Things happen that bring me back to that night. The one that will forever torment me.

I’m doing fine, keeping to myself in order to ensure no one gets hurt by me. Then along comes Lyric, and all I want to do is touch her, to put my hands in places that I know will only lead to her being crushed by me.

She’s the rush that I crave. The darkest of poison running through my veins, killing me bit by bit; like a drug I can’t get enough of even though I’m almost down to my last breath.

And being around her only hurts more, but what she doesn’t understand is that I welcome the pain; I get off on it, which in the end leaves me with the hardest decision of my life—one that might get us all killed…

Excerpt:

I walk down the steps and call his name but he still doesn’t answer. I notice a light shining through the bottom of what I believe is the downstairs bathroom, so I throw his jacket on the queen-sized bed and look around me.

It’s like a mix between a bedroom and a gym. Everything about this room tells me that Memphis is a fighter… or was. In the back corner there is a heavy bag, a speed bag, two long, heavy ropes, and some kind of bar hanging from the ceiling that must be for pull-ups. There is more random equipment sitting around, but I really have no idea what they are used for.

You can tell he was heavy into training and staying fit: sexy and dangerous. Hand in hand they make a lethal weapon, and also one reason I should want to stay away.

I look down at the jacket on his bed one more time before turning around to head back upstairs.

The sight in front of me takes the breath straight from my lungs and for some reason refuses to give it back. Damn you wine. Damn you.

Memphis is standing there, dripping wet, with a small towel wrapped around his waist. One hand is shaking out his hair and the other is holding his towel together.

Please let go. Please let go…

I try my best to turn away, I swear, but I have to face it – it’s pointless at this point. My eyes slowly trail down his body, taking their time on each and every body part. Think he’d notice if I grabbed my camera? Holy hell

Every single muscle in that firm chest is dying to be licked by me. Oh fuck me. Those defined muscles leading down to his… I swallow. Oh my… that looks like a nice package.

     Where’s the wine?

My mouth feels dry. I quickly bring my eyes up to his face right as he pulls the towel away to adjust it. I catch a quick glimpse, but hold my breath and try to pretend that I missed it, although, that is definitely hard to miss.

“I… uh…” I point down at his bed. “Was just dropping off your jacket like you asked. You didn’t answer the door so I… never mind. I’m sorry. I’m leaving. I should have just left it upstairs.”

I turn to walk away, but his voice stops me. “I heard you knocking, Lyric. I expected you’d come down here. I know you more than you think.” He steps up behind me and touches my camera. “I was hoping you’d bring this.” He grabs the strap and pulls it over my shoulder toward the front of my body, letting it rest against my front, then turnsme around to face him.

His icy blue eyes stare at me with an intensity that makes my heart skip a beat. “Why,” I ask softly, still trying to keep my eyes from wandering.

“Because I like it.” He runs his finger from the camera up the center of my body, between my breasts, and looks into my eyes. “And fuck me, but I love you using it on me.”

“I tried to play a game. I tried to wield deceit as perfectly as the Hawks. But when I thought I was winning, I wasn’t. Jethro isn’t what he seems—he’s the master of duplicity. However, I refuse to let him annihilate me further.”
Nila Weaver has grown from naĂŻve seamstress to full-blown fighter. Every humdrum object is her arsenal, and sex…sex is her greatest weapon of all.
She’s paid the First Debt. She’ll probably pay more.
But she has no intention of letting the Hawks win.
Jethro Hawk has found more than a worthy adversary in Nila—he’s found the woman who could destroy him. There’s a fine line between hatred and love, and an even finer path between fear and respect.
The fate of his house rests on his shoulders, but no matter how much ice lives inside his heart, Nila flames too bright to be extinguished.

Second Debt (Indebted, #3)Second Debt by Pepper Winters

5 stars!

   photo 7a9908cd-2f53-4b1a-a9a6-cd1561bb4ecd_zps3e37b5e6.jpg

Second Debt is another deliciously dark and intense installment in the Indebted series. With every book in this series, I get more drawn in, more invested in Nila and Jethro’s story. I have to know what happens next. And after the ending of this one, I’m just dying for the next one!

Nila Weaver thought maybe there was something more to Jethro Hawk. That she could make him care for her. Fall for her. And maybe, just maybe, things would turn out differently for her than the rest of the Weaver women. But then Nila sees something that changes that for her. It makes her lose all emotion for anyone with the name Hawk. All emotion except for hate.

   photo 0e622629-127a-4966-b4ba-2c6b92e8f1b0_zps34c698f1.jpg

Jethro will do what he has to. He is a Hawk. It’s his legacy, but it’s more than that. It’s not just whats expected of him, it’s required. In Debt Inheritance, I wondered if Jethro Hawk was a redeemable man, or truly just a monster. In First Debt, I thought that maybe, just maybe he wasn’t as bad as I originally thought.  After reading Second Debt, Pepper did something I didn’t think she’d be able to do. Not only did she make Jethro redeemable to me, but she made me love the guy. He’s not perfect- no where near perfect, but he is doing what he has to do to survive. And in his own way, he does care for Nila. Maybe even more than cares for her… he makes that fairly obvious.

“You’re mine, therefore, you are my affliction. So I will feel what you feel, and i will live what you live. You won’t understand what I mean. Not yet. But it’s my best sacrifice. The only thing I can offer.”

Nila is so much tougher than I ever gave her credit for. The things she’s gone through, the emotion and turmoil she feels. It’s a lot to handle. And on top of all that, worrying about her life and death situation, she’s gone and done something she swore she would never do. As much hate she has for the Hawks, Jethro has worked his way into her heart.

I’d become enraptured by my capturer. My tormentor. My would-be murderer. I only had eyes for him. My heart only beat for him. What does that say about me?

   photo 3cd6c293-b3e3-4106-b340-9819feb83d58_zps74bc4291.jpg

This series has hooked me. I can’t stop reading. I am half way through, and I am even more invested than I was in the beginning. I need to know what happens with this couple. I love how these books keep me on edge. I never know what sick and twisted things are going to happen. I never know whether I’m going to cry, smile, or rage.

I love how strong this heroine is. I love how Pepper has created an unlovable antihero and made me fall for him. Being in Jethro’s head makes it so easy to see whats going on and makes me feel his struggle. Feel his conflict. My heart breaks for these two. I’m not sure how it’s going to be possible for them to have their happy ending, but I guess we have a few books left. If I’ve learned anything about this series it’s that anything can happen…

If you’re looking for a dark, twisted, erotic, fast paced and captivating series, these are books I highly recommend. I love Pepper’s writing, and the story is just so unexpected and great!
