Review: 5 omg so hot stars!

How do I even begin to tell you how much I loved this book. From page 1 until the end had me hooked. And even now days later I want to go back and start over. I received this book through Gallery Books as part of XOXperts, a street team for XOXO After Dark. I was reluctant to start it because it is book 2 in the series. Once I was assured I could start The Master without reading The Professional I jumped right in.

I fell for these characters immediately! Cat is such an amazing strong female lead. And Maksim....he is so YUMMY! I don't know what it is about men who are broken, but I am a sucker for them each and every time. The very first interaction between Cat and Maksim blew my mind. For this connection to happen so soon, made me realize how  compatible they are. I had started The Master late at night.......and stayed up until the wee hours of the morning to finish it. I couldn't put it down until it was finished.

I have become a fan of Kresley Cole's work, I bought The Professional so I can go back and start at the beginning and meet more of the sexy Russian Mafia men! And ohhhh I cannot wait for Dmitri's story because I have a feeling I will love him more than any of them. His story screams BROKEN MAN PROCEED AT RISK!

FWM Teaser 4

FALL WITH ME Excerpt:
Someone—was it Melvin?—catcalled as Reece led me down the hall, and my cheeks flushed. “Okay, heman, I can walk all by my little self.”
He cast a look over his shoulder at me as he opened the office door. “I’m sure you can.”
Then he pulled me inside.
My gaze flipped to the roses—the roses!—but before I could say a word, he closed the door and my back was pressed against it, his hands planted on either side of my head and his face right in mine. Like right there, within kissing distance.
Wow.
“So, I was at my father’s place in New Jersey most of the day, and you know, he lives out near the Pine Barrens, so service is shit.”
I nodded even though I really wasn’t processing what he was saying as I was too busy staring at his mouth. Those lips, fuller on the bottom, drove me to distraction.
“I pull out of his driveway and I have all these messages from Dennis,” he continued, and I finally caught on to what he was talking about. “I honestly thought he was messing with me at first.”
I cringed. “He . . . um, he wasn’t.”
He shot me a bland look. “That much I figured out.” His hands slid on the door, stopping just shy of touching my shoulders. “What did he do to you?”
“What?” I blinked.
“What did that bastard do to make you throw a book through his windshield?”
Oh. Oh. My heart was now wiggling along with my stomach. “He really didn’t do anything. I just lost my cool. He wanted to talk to me, and I didn’t want to talk to him.”
“You don’t have to talk to him.”
“That’s what Dennis said, but I shouldn’t have damaged his car.”
A muscle flexed along his right jaw. “That’s true.” He shook his head. “Damn, Roxy, can’t say I’m surprised.”
My brows flew up. “You’re not?”
He laughed under his breath. “Babe, you’ve always had a hell of a temper on you.”
Ah, that was kind of true. “Is that a good thing or a bad thing?”
Reece cocked his head to the side. “A sexy thing, but vandalism and destruction of property doesn’t look good on you, sweets.”
“No. It doesn’t match my manicure.” I raised my hands, flashing him the blue nails.
He laughed again and then he sobered up, just like that. Cop Face was on, and yeah . . . the low coiling in my stomach told me I found Cop Face arousing. “You’re lucky. He could’ve pressed charges, and this conversation would be going in a whole different direction.”
My own half smile slipped off my face. “I know. It’s . . . I was just with Charlie, and he’s . . .” Unable to continue, I forced a casual shrug I didn’t feel. “What are you going to do with me?”

His lips parted as his chest rose with a deep breath, then his gaze dropped to my mouth, and his expression tightened. He looked . . . he looked hungry. “I have lots of ideas.”

His Only Wife by Melissa Brown- blog tour!

Christy's Review:

4 stars!

His Only Wife is a beautiful and sweet extended epilogue to Brin and Porter’s story.

This novella takes place about three years after Wife Number Seven ends. Brin is out of the compound completely. Porter is trying to clean up his life and stay clean. Brin and Porter are in love and happy, but they still have obstacles to overcome. Their past isn’t an easy one and getting through those things takes time, love and patience.

Brin and Porter want each other. They love each other. And most importantly, they are patient and understanding with each other. I adore this couple together.

Readers of Wife Number Seven know how special and amazing that book is. It’s one of my favorites. I was happy to get this lovely conclusion of this beautiful couple! I can’t wait for Melissa to write more books in this series (ASPEN!!!)

HIS ONLY WIFE

I didn’t think I’d ever want to devote my life to someone. That is, until Brin.

I was twenty-six years old the day she entered my life, just when I’d given up hope, just when I’d given up completely on having any shred of happiness in my pathetic excuse for a life. After years of indecision, self destruction and soul-searching, she found me.

Brinley challenged everything I thought I knew. She proved that goodness could still come from that hellish compound. Goodness, bravery and love. She changed everything the moment she knocked on the door of my apartment, acting as brave as a lion, even though she was shaking like a terrified mouse stuck in my trap.

And now, three years later, I want her as my wife. My only wife. Till death do us part.

Just us.

And I’ve never wanted anything more.

Brinley’s POV

Our first summer living together in Porter’s house, he introduced me to drive-in movies. Well, he introduced me to a bunch of things I’d never experienced before: movie theaters, miniature golf, rock climbing, fast food drive-throughs. and picnics in the field near our house. But my favorite, by far, was the drive-in movie theater.

I’ll never forget that first night when Porter introduced me to the concept. I was new to living in the outside world. Movies and television, on the whole, were still new to me, but the idea of watching a movie outside was almost impossible to imagine.

When we’d first arrived, I hadn’t been sure what to expect. The drive-in was out in the middle of nowhere, next to a shallow canyon. Dust flew inside the cab of Porter’s truck as we approached the ticket taker. The booth was rusted and painted an odd pistachio green. I eyed Porter, wondering just how long the drive-in had been in business. If the dilapidated state of the booth was any indication, it had been quite a while.

“It’s vintage.” He laughed as he pulled the truck away from the booth and approached the enormous movie screen.

“Kinda like me?” I teased, looking down at my modest outfit. Until recently, I’d only worn old-fashioned clothes and my hair in a long blond braid down my back.

“Nah, you’re classic, Brin. Classic.”

They were playing a marathon of old movies, the black-and-white kind. Honestly, I didn’t really understand the difference all that much until Porter explained that Clark Gable’s expressions and slang in It Happened One Night no longer translated in the modern world. I was captivated by the actor’s handsome, debonair onscreen persona. And I was equally fascinated by the hairstyles and costumes of his leading lady—the glamour of the actress, her perfectly made-up face and flawless skin. But most of all, I was entranced by the entire experience of watching a movie on a larger-than-life screen all from the bed of Porter’s truck, salt and butter from the freshly made popcorn lingering on my fingers.

The stars were bright above us as we lay in the bed of the truck. Fleece blankets softened the unyielding metal beneath us, and pillows cradled us comfortably as we lounged. Candy of all kinds and giant convenience-store sodas kept our bellies full and satisfied as we snuggled up together, my legs draped over his, and his arm resting comfortably beneath the small of my back.

In a word, it was heavenly. And I don’t take that word lightly.

“That was romantic,” I said with a yawn on our drive back to the house.

Porter laughed. “You think so? Even though the place is falling apart?”

The wind blew through my hair and I nodded. “Yes. Thank you for taking me.” I slid closer to him and he wrapped his arm around me, placing a kiss on the top of my head.

“I love introducing you to stuff like this. Your expressions make it totally worth it.”

That comment made me self-conscious, knowing that in the grand scheme of things, I was still quite a fish out of water. I fidgeted with my hair and shifted in my seat. “I must look ridiculous.”

“Never,” he insisted, his voice serious. “It’s sweet. It’s like this look of wonder, ya know? You’re experiencing so many things for the first time, and I get to be there for it. Makes me feel really lucky.”

My nose had wrinkled in disbelief. “Really? Lucky?”

Porter had kissed my head again. “Every single day.”

It’s amazing that you can live somewhere for twenty-two years and never feel like you fit in, like you’re home. That night in his truck, I’d known I was finally home. Porter was the home I’d dreamed about for years.

Night Moves (Book #3)
"Easton," I said, trying to feel him out. "I'm getting some very mixed signals here." I tried to pull my hands back, but his grip was strong. He didn't release his hold.
"It's simple, I've missed being with you."

"What do you mean? We were just together last night. We spent almost all morning together at the office, we had a working lunch together, and now you've hauled me out for dinner. I'd say over the last 24 hours, we've spent more time together than most married couples."
"Don't play with me," he quipped. "You know what I'm talking about. This doesn't bode well for me."

I sighed audibly. The truth was, my body ached for him as well as for his discipline, but these newly adopted scruples of mine were wreaking havoc with my better judgment. What else could I do but be honest?
"Easton I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss the experience of being with you. It was something else, no doubt about it. But things have changed. There's no getting around that. I told you how I felt last night. I need to get my priorities in order. Nothing's a given for me anymore. I have to earn my success. I really want to put my best foot forward with my career. You seemed to understand that last night. It's just not a good idea."
"Yes," he replied quietly, giving what I'd said some thought while rubbing my fingers with his. "Of course, you're right. It's not a good idea, assuredly. It would cross the line you set, which by the way, I totally respect and admire the fact that you're putting your career first, much like me, I suppose." His gray eyes studied me and my heart did a fast pitter-pat at the feel of his fingers intertwining with mine.
"I appreciate your understanding and thank you for noticing that I've taken this new role seriously. I don't want anything to jeopardize my ability to succeed," I said.
He was still holding fast to my fingers. My heart continued the pitter-pat rhythm.

"Absolutely," he replied, earnestly. "You're to be commended. Still," he said, his voice dropping an octave and his lips curling into that beautiful smile that couldn't be good for my pulse, "I just can't get that picture out of my head."
                Silence…
"What picture?" I asked finally, squirming just a tad in my seat.
"The picture of your beautiful face after I've used the crop and when my lips softly place those little butterfly kisses on that very special spot of yours."
                Oh holy Jesus!
"Which one?" I asked raising an eyebrow, immediately regretting it.
"The one right…here," he said softly, brushing his thumb against that sensitive area I had on my neck, an inch or two south of my earlobe. I knew the one. He continued to lightly caress it, his eyes growing darker.
"Ahh, yes," I said, remembering the way he'd made me tingle and my toes curl just with his soft kisses on that spot. "That spot."  I shifted uneasily.
Focus, Darcy. Disengage. I repeat: disengage!
"And then, you know, there's that other special spot of yours…," he murmured.
"Easton," I warned, my tone getting stern. I shifted nervously.
"You know the one, love? That very deep, sensitive spot inside of you that loves the feel of my fingers and cock rubbing against it. Such a shame you haven't had the pleasure of feeling my unsheathed cock. I'm betting my cock jewelry would likely put you over the edge. You've wondered about that, haven't you? When you're lying in bed at night, when the world gets slightly quieter as your imagination runs a little wilder…" His hand made its way to the nape of my neck, his fingers lightly drawing shapes across the sensitive skin. "I bet you have that night on replay, along with those thoughts of yours when you saw my piercing. And then you wonder what it would feel like to have it gently scrape your clit, slowly at first, but then I'd go a little faster. A little harder. Until I took it deeper and started all over again. And again."
By this time, I could feel the wet spot in my panties. My lips were dry, so I merely nodded in agreement.
"Oh," he said, smiling again, "Let's not forget those very enticing nipples of yours and the way they respond when I taste them, right before I take them full into my mouth to suck. Hard. Quite a rush, isn't it?"
                Oh God!
The server approached, setting our drinks down, ready to take our order.
"Darcy?" Easton nodded, as the server waited, poised to write my order down.
"Uh, nothing for me, I'm still full from lunch." He turned to Easton for his order.
                "Check please."

 Author Information

I was born and raised in southern Ohio, and with the exception of a brief stint in Dallas, TX, have been an Ohioan most of my life. My dream has always been to write a novel, and back in the early eighties I tried to do just that, having been influenced by authors such as Kathleen Woodiwiss, Johanna Lindsey, Rosemary Rogers and Laurie McBain. I remember writing to all of them through their listed publishers, and the only response I received was from Johanna Lindsey (who lived in Hawaii at the time.

Ms. Lindsey advised me to continue with my dream; and to submit to various publishers again and again. Of course, at that time, publishing e-books yourself was not on the horizon; there were vanity publishing houses of course, but she advised me to avoid those.

So my dream was put on the back-burner for more than 25 years until June of 2012 when suddenly I no longer had a reason not to write a novel. My sons were grown; I found myself without a career (blessedly) and the creative juices flowed once again.

I finished my first novel, "Maybe Baby" in September of 2012; the next two books in the "Baby Series" titled "Baby Love" and "Be My Baby" were published in early 2013. I learned a lot in my first endeavor with self-publishing. I've made so many friends as a result that it is over-whelming.

In the spring of 2013, I had an idea for a different type of Alpha, and wrote Book #1 of the "G-Man" Series, titled "Diamond Girl." This book was well-received, and I followed it with Book #2, "Love Plus One." These are stand-alone books.

I am finally doing what I love and I sincerely appreciate the wonderful readers who provide feedback and take the time to comment. I hope that with each book, my writing has grown and improved as I strive to publish quality fiction.

His laughter, it didn’t really sound the smallest bit amused. “Christ. You’re done here.”
“Ah, no. I’m actually not. Now see, this is where we have a problem.” I folded my arms. Then unfolded them because like fuck I’d look defensive. He was the one in the wrong, not me. “You’re not prepared to take me, or my feelings, seriously. What you want is to hide away in Mr. Too Cool for Commitment land and just play with my affections when it suits you. Okay, I’ve accepted that. But none of that means it’s okay for you to come in here and act like you’re the boss of me. None of it.”
“That so?” he asked, leaning down so that we were almost nose to nose.
“That’s so, baby.” I play-punched him in the shoulder, which it should be noted, I barely came up to. Okay, so maybe the alcohol on a mostly empty stomach had made me slightly/lots braver/sillier. “So why don’t you take your little caveman jealous tantrum bullshit somewhere else. See, I do this funny thing I like to refer to as whatever the fuck I want. Understand?”
He just stared.
“And as pretty as you are with your beard and your muscles, you are too damn tricky and . . . complicated and shit for me.”
“I am?”
“Yes, you are. Are you finally seeing my point here?”
“You bet.”
“Excellent. So take your hotness elsewhere, kind sir. I want no part of it!” Huh. I had so told him. Drunken bravado was the best.

Consolation BLOG TOUR

Christy's Review:

5 stars!!!

   photo fc67e5f9-fe76-4c9b-9c50-acaf59c20365_zpsnlreersw.jpg

What can make a perfect book for me if done right, is a book that makes me feel. And this book… My heart. My emotions. The FEELS. It really got to me. If you’re looking for that kind of read, Consolation should go to the very top of your TBR list. This book hit me hard. I was completely captivated while reading Natalie’s story.

Natalie seemed to have it all. A husband she loved that made it out of the Navy safe and a live. After trying for a while, she's pregnant with their first child. Then something huge happened to change all that. She gets a knock on the door. Her husband Aaron, who is doing some sort of security mission overseas is gone. And she is alone. It’s just her and her daughter and she’s left to pick up the pieces and carry on with her life.

   photo 6b801f76-e85a-423e-be12-836b7fb3bb0b_zps2w4jobqt.jpg

Natalie feels alone. Even though she has family and friends, it’s not the same. She feels a void and doesn’t think anyone can ever fill it. Everyone notices how she’s not coping well. Then enters Liam Dempsey. Liam was Aaron’s best friend. He feels like he should make sure Natalie is okay. Be there for her for support and any help she might need. Liam is such a stand up guy.

The more time Liam spends with Natalie and her daughter, Ara, the more their friendship changes from just friendship to something more. They both try to fight it. It doesn’t seem ‘right’. But Aaron is gone. He’s never coming back. Is it really wrong?

The feel of her body against mine makes me want more. It’s wrong on so many levels. I’m breaking the ultimate  man-code, but I can’t stop myself.

   photo 30e37830-a7ac-4beb-b383-9905b15a6a15_zps5lnkazii.jpg

Liam. OH my Liam. Is there a more swoony man? He’s military. He’s sexy. He’s sweet. He’s protective. AND he’s good with her kid. Can you say PERFECT MAN?!? And Natalie has so much strength. All she’s been through, as hard as things get, as the punches just keep on coming she stays strong. In her shoes, I’m not sure if I could hold on like she did. I love a strong heroine. She was truly great. I really loved them together. Liam isn’t the only hero in this story. They both saved each other.

“You being here in my arms right now is reminding me that sometimes the victory is worth the battle.”

This was my first Corinne Michael’s story, but it certainly won’t be my last. The writing was fantastic and I loved the way the story flowed. I loved the direction it took. I’m actually excited to go back and read her first two books (which are recommended to be read before this- the characters tie in) because I liked Jackson so much in this one! And then that ending. Holy hell. I just can’t even go there. You have to read it for your self. Let that jaw drop and wait ever so patiently for the next book just like me!

   photo 2665f3bc-bcc5-4f91-bc9e-9e5696a1e185_zpstu6boacb.jpg

This was a story of loss, of love, friendship, moving on, starting over and believing in love again. It’s one thats going on my favorites list for the year. I highly recommend.

“I want you. Every day I want you.”
Kara's Review:
Consolation (The Consolation Duet, #1)Consolation by Corinne Michaels
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

"I freaking love you guys, and you'll love this one!" said Rebecca Yarros.
I started this book on my lunch break Friday afternoon & had tears down my face in the first 6%. I called Christy & said "Tell me the ending or I am reading the last chapter!"

this book has the angst. and I really enjoyed it.
What I liked even better - the small details the author didn't forget in writing this story. Ms Michaels created a picture in my head so real I felt I was there watching it. I felt so involved in the story.... I love reads like this.

of course when I finished I had to message Rebecca and Corinne about questions I needed to know... and you know what - Corinne laughed her evil little laugh at me.

So friends - I am telling you ... read this one. It is one of the good ones.

Liam wasn’t supposed to be my happily ever after.
He wasn’t even on my radar.
He was my husband’s best friend—forbidden.

But my husband is dead and I’m alone. I ache for him and I reach for Liam.

One night with Liam changed everything. Now I have to decide if I truly love him or if he’s just the consolation prize.

Both her maternal and paternal grandmothers were librarians, which only intensified her love of reading. After years of writing short stories, she couldn’t ignore the call to finish her debut novel, Beloved. Her alpha Navy SEALs are broken, beautiful, and will steal your heart.
