Confess Blog Tour #ConfessYourTruth

CONFESS
BY COLLEEN HOOVER

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Colleen Hoover, a new novel about risking everything for love—and finding your heart somewhere between the truth and lies.

Auburn Reed has her entire life mapped out. Her goals are in sight and there’s no room for mistakes. But when she walks into a Dallas art studio in search of a job, she doesn’t expect to find a deep attraction to the enigmatic artist who works there, Owen Gentry.

For once, Auburn takes a risk and puts her heart in control, only to discover that Owen is keeping some major secrets from coming out. The magnitude of his past threatens to destroy everything important to Auburn, and the only way to get her life back on track is to cut Owen out of it.

The last thing Owen wants is to lose Auburn, but he can’t seem to convince her that truth is sometimes as subjective as art. All he would have to do to save their relationship is confess. But in this case, the confession could be much more destructive than the actual sin…

Babes Chat About Confess

Favorite Confession
Bella: "Every time I go out to eat, I secretly pay for someone's meal.  I can't afford it, but I do it because it makes me feel good to imagine what that moment must be like for them, to know a complete stranger just did something nice for them with no expectations in return."  I seriously want to do this!!

Kara: the husband and his brother

Favorite Quote
"I'll love you forever. Even when I can't."
"I'll love you forever.  Even when I shouldn't."  Gahhh! we are almost tearing up thinking about this scene!!!

Favorite scene
Bella: I don't want to spoil anything, but my favorite scene is one that shows Auburn has grown a backbone!!!  I hated it when Lydia & Trey took advantage of her.

Kara: The first pages - because books are made and broken on the first few pages.  I cried like a baby and knew this would be an awesome read.

Final thoughts
Bella: Colleen Hoover is amazing. I love the unique spin she puts on things.  She will forever be on my "auto buy" list of authors.  When I think of Confess, I will always remember how quickly Colleen Hoover was able to bring me to tears! 2%. My husband was making fun of me, rolling his eyes, calling me a sap.  But, seriously, this woman can use words to pull emotions out of me like no other author.

Kara:  the BEST part of reading this book has been watching others read this.  I read it moons before everyone and I had to wait until my friends read it.  The idea of this book with the confessions.  PURE BRILLIANCE.

Reviews
Kara's Review: 4 stars

I watched my co-blogger read this book this week... and I almost enjoyed that MORE than my first read through.  almost.
at 10% I asked "What do you think is going to happen"
she said "All I know is Owen is somehow connected to Adman.  An old friend, cousin, Something."
and "I love the cheese sticks at the bar part.  I am only 15% and I can tell this book is so special.  CoHo is magic."

I had to remind her that when I read this book - I had to savor it.  What happens when the book ends? We wait for more CoHo - no one likes waiting for more CoHo.

This book will be a favorite of every reader. CoHo writes an amazing story with fantastic characters,   A setting that is painted in your imagination with a plot that amazes you.

Bella's Review: 4 stars

Colleen Hoover is hands down one of my most favorite authors. She has this way of making phrases that stick with you long after you finish her books.  Carving pumpkins, butterfly you, I live you, chapter break...these are all phrases that will forever make me think of Colleen Hoover's books.

In Confess, I LOVE how she incorporated real confessions anonymously submitted by fans, and wove them into her story.  I was blown away by these confessions.  I'm even more blown away by the phenomenon it has created on Facebook (and I'm sure other social media sites) where fans are posting all sorts of confessions after reading this book.  It's strangely addicting to confess something that's been hidden inside of you.  It's also addicting to read other people's confessions.

Also, the artwork.  I love that there were pictures in this book.  It definitely brought Owen's artwork to life in a way that words just can't.  I will definitely buy a paperback to add to my collection.

Writing = 10,000 stars.  I love the way CoHo writes.  It's so easy for me to read.  I get sucked in and just can't stop turning the pages. The prologue....I was sobbing at 2%.  I mean...TWO PERCENT.  SOBBING.  It's a testament to how talented CoHo is that she could bring about such emotion after like 4 e-pages.  Seriously, this book gets the award for making me cry in the prologue.

Owen = 10,000 stars.  I want to crawl inside the book, hug Owen and make everything better for him.  I hate the position his dad put him in.

Auburn.  Auburn was difficult for me to connect with.  I spent the majority of this book hating the decisions she made.  I understand the position she was in, but I couldn't relate to her though process.

Trey & Lydia.  I want to cause serious bodily harm to those two.  I needed them to get what they deserved.

Plot:  I still have a bunch of questions unanswered.  And my thirst for vengeance/retribution was not satisfied (maybe that says more about me than the book).  I would have like an epilogue...

I have read everything written by this author (and will continue to do so).

Bottom line:  highly recommend.  Hopeless & Losing Hope still remain my favorite CoHo books, but there are parts of Confess that will stick with me forever.

Favorite quotes:

"I'll love you forever. Even when I can't."
"I'll love you forever.  Even when I shouldn't."

"It's amazing how much distance one truth can create between two people."

"I'm afraid if I listen to my heart once, I'll never figure out how to ignore it again."

"No one deserves you like I do.
No one sees you like I do.
No on understands you like I do.
No one makes your heart beat like I do."
