Fake it till you make it.
That’s Lexi Hall, the wild socialite’s motto for how to live life.
Single and allergic to commitment, Lexi is having the time of her life.  Or is she? With a new promotion at the art gallery, and her colorful lifestyle as bright as ever, she swears she has no interest in slowing down. When Lexi receives a phone call that can change her career, she pounces on the opportunity. But what this outgoing diva doesn’t plan for is her new client, the closed off, secluded artist, Hunter James. Fighting to draw the line between work and pleasure, it’s up to Lexi to figure out how to balance her fake life for something real.
Hunter James is an artist without a muse. Lacking the beauty in his life that he craves, his art is beginning to suffer.  Unfortunately for the mysterious artist, a past mistake also tarnishes his trust in women. Forced to take a meeting with an art gallery dealer, he accepts knowing he’ll turn her down. He turns them all down.  But what he doesn’t anticipate is for the seductive bombshell to turn his world upside down.  As his body and mind come alive, he vows to stop at nothing to have her on his canvas and in his bed.
As Lexi’s life begins to brighten with the promise of something beautiful, can she stop faking it and find a reason to make it real? Or will Hunter’s past replace their light with darkness?

JD Hollyfield is a new author to me so I had no idea what to expect when I picked up Faking It. Fun is the first word that comes to mind. It was a fun book, with a sassy, yet surprisingly relatable heroine. I loved that it made me laugh lots, it had just the right amount of steaminess and was well paced and well written.

I, Lexi Hall, want to change. To be loved. To be cherished… Problem is, I don’t know how to go about doing it. I’ve spent so long faking how happy I am living free and alive in the warmth of San Fransisco, when in reality, I am lonelier than I have ever been.

Lexi Hall works for an art gallery. She is good at her job. She has a great best friend, and is relatively content with her life. But she’s lonely. She does a great job faking it, but deep down, she wants more from life. She’ll only admit that to herself though… When Lexi goes out of town for work to meet an elusive artist, Hunter James, the last thing she expects is to be attracted to him, drawn to him, enamored by him. And it goes both ways. Hunter has never seen someone he’s wanted to paint more. He needs Lexi to be his muse. And he’ll do just about anything to get her.

Lexi begrudgingly agrees to Hunter’s conditions and lets him paint her. In the process, they spend more time together and connect. Hunter isn’t an open guy. He’s not the type of man to talk about himself or share his secrets. It takes a lot for Lexi to get anything out of him. I spent the first part of the book wondering what made Hunter James the way he was. This successful and rich artist who is a little broody and keeps to himself. Then I got my answer. And it all made sense. It takes a little time, but Lexi starts to pull Hunter out of his shell a bit. I loved watching their time together, seeing their relationship grow and Hunter open up some. It’s sweet and sexy, but more than that, it’s funny! I loved all of Lexi’s antics.

Hunter and Lexi just work together. They are one of those couples that compliment each other completely. Of course a few things happen that causes a little angst and difficulty, but things get figured out rather quickly. I wish there would have been a bit more before the end, but the epilogue was fantastic, so I was one happy reader by the final chapter!

If you’re looking for a stand-alone that’s fun, sexy, laugh out loud and entertaining, look no further. Faking It is a book you’ll want to pick up!
