 BLURB

One life-changing summer.

One boy.

The boy.

The boy who offered me safe touches and heart-stopping smiles - smiles he shared with his son.

We filled our days with porch-step kisses,

filled our ears with laughter,

filled our hearts with love.

Deep, soul-aching, desperate love.

But love is misleading.

It’s an invisible, fleeting moment.

Somewhere between false adoration and pure hatred comes an emotion, a vulnerable need, a single desire.

It lives within the ones who miss it, who crave it,

who know better than to expect it.

Love is relentless.

Even when that love turns to hate, turns to loathing,

turns to pain.

Love should heal you.

But it can also break you.

Believe me, I know…

Because I'm Becca Owens - a broken girl…

…And he's Josh Warden - the boy who broke me.

I’m Becca Owens- a broken girl. And he’s Josh Warden- the boy who broke me.

Kick Push was at the very top of my favorites list of my 2015 reads. I’ve been on pins and needles waiting for this sequel, and when it showed up on my kindle, I had to take a day or two to prepare myself to read it. It was nervous. For Becca. For Josh. For Tommy. But I pulled it together and devoured it. What can I say about Coast? Jay McLean nailed it. I felt ALL the feels. I laughed, I cried, I smiled, I cried some more, and I loved it so hard. It was the perfect conclusion for this trio.

Josh Warden is one of my favorite heroes in the history of ever. I could spend this entire review sharing my love for this single dad. I adore him beyond words. Two events changed his life forever. The first was the birth of his son, Tommy. The second was meeting Becca…

“I kicked, and I pushed, and for the past year, that’s all I’ve been doing because it didn’t feel the same and I knew in my heart that without her, I’d never be able to coast.”

Becca has had a tremendously difficult life, but she’s persevered. She’s strong. Stronger than ever before. Becca has goals and she works hard to achieve them. She’s a fantastic heroine. Her journey and life is heartbreaking at times, but I love watching her growth. Her story moves me and inspires me.

I would love to tell you that Josh and Becca’s journey was smooth sailing (God knows they deserve it to be) but I’d be lying. It was rough at times. They had to be their own people and I respected that. I loved that they were there for each other always when it mattered and with all the hardships and shared grief they clung to each other instead of letting it tear them apart. Becca and Josh belong together and I couldn’t imagine an ending where they weren't with one another.

“What if you were the land, and I were the sea? What if the coast we’d been searching
for was us all along… living and existing together…”

As much as I love Josh and Becca- I have to shout out to the bestest character in the book. TOMMY! I love him so much! He is the sweetest kid and every scene he was in made my heart smile. I also loved the relationship Becca’s dad Martin and Josh developed.

Just as Kick Push was an incredible and unforgettable read, Coast was too. Jay never ceases to amaze me with her beautiful, emotional stories and special characters. These are two of my favorite books and I would highly recommend them to all readers!

“I would love nothing more than to be your hero, Becca Owens.”
